A small operator in a bamboo county, working in the open

No call centre, no reseller chain, no commission-driven recommendations. One office in Anji and a network of drivers and guides we have worked with for years.

Why this site exists

Inbound travellers cannot tell which Chinese travel page is an advert

Search "Anji" in English and you get a wall of pages that are either machine-translated brochures or resellers who have never been. Meanwhile the practical questions — how much is the car, is there halal food, can my mother manage the steps — go unanswered.

So we wrote the site we wished existed when we started driving guests here: prices with dates on them, the options we do not sell given equal space, and a field-test log where we print what we paid.

It is not a charity. We make money on cars, guides, homestays and workshops. We just think the honest version sells better in the long run, and seven years of returning guests suggests it does.

Our rules

Five things we put on the wall

We publish prices, including the ones that lose us money

Every rate on this site is an indication we would honour, dated to the month we last checked it. When a price rises we change the page the same week and say so.

We name the two options we do not sell

High-speed rail and the direct coach are both cheaper than our cars for solo travellers. They are on the transport page with the same detail as our own service, because a guest who takes the train and comes back next year is worth more than one who feels oversold.

Reviews are attributed or absent

Guest quotes carry a nationality and a month, never an invented star average. Our field tests are our own trips, paid for by us, with the receipt amount printed next to the verdict.

Nothing here is generated copy-paste

The team has walked every trail and slept in the beds we recommend. Where we have not been yet, the page says so — the field-test log on the reviews page is the record.

We are a small operator and we say so

One office in Anji, a network of licensed drivers and guides we have worked with for years. No call centre, no reseller chain, no commission-driven recommendations.
